My name is Kathi and I am the owner of Smokin’ Em Fishing Charters, Smokin’ Em started out being docked at Fisherman’s wharf which is owned by the city of Ft. Pierce as is the City Marina. We never had a complaint while being docked at Fisherman’s wharf and “out of the city’s eye” Smokin’ Em was moved to the City Marina on the 1st of March and since has been kicked out as of the 19th of March.

We promote the fact that we have 5 ladies working for us on our charters as mates. As they mate for our boat the ladies wear bikini’s , not thongs, nothing revealing, just bikini’s. Mr. Dean Kubitschek the marina manager thinks this is inappropriate in the eye of the city and at his marina. Although our mates have never worn just there bikini’s to or from our boat onto the docks. Even if they had would that be a crime or inappropriate? People wear bathing suites on boats all the time. We wear bikini’s to public beaches, we wear them to public pools with families and children all around us. Why should my company be ashamed to have ladies in bikini’s on a boat ? We didn’t even run a charter out of this marina the short time we were there.

So this petition is for the removal of Dean Kubitschek from being a city and/or county employee any further and to have him removed from employment at the City Marina. It is also for my company to be allowed to re-dock at the city marina in slip 5 on charter boat row , next to the Tiki Bar. We are not looking for a money settlement only for the manager to be removed and for my boat to be re-docked in it’s slip.

This is unfair to women everywhere. It is discrimination against women.

Other Captains in the marina did not want us to dock there. It’s called more competition which they do not want.

We at one time had flyers made with bikini girl charters on them and once 3 miles off the beach the clients were allowed to pay extra for the girls to mate topless, with a no touch policy strictly enforced. That was also on the “OLD” flyers. Now before coming to city docks we agreed No more topless promotion or charters would be run. That is fine with us. However some of our old flyers were still out in hotel’s. These flyers were found by one of the Captains which they took upon themselves to pick up and place in the Tiki Bar on all the tables. Mr. Dean Kubitschek will not check his surveillance cameras to see that we were not the ones placing those flyers. He refused to even speak to us or discuss the situation.

His final words were “the damage is done and that’s it , get out of My marina”

Now I ask you how is this fair at all ? Being set up then kicked out with no warning at all ! Mr. Kubitschek has a problem with ladies working on a charter boat and that’s the bottom line. He doesn’t like the fact the a women owns a charter boat business, he has discriminated against women for the last time. Sign our petition to put an end to this hate for females in our beautiful city of Ft. Pierce.
